Dyra på Gården
Hand-spun, hand-knit wool · Norway
“Wool you can trace to the animal.”
The maker
On a small farm in Norway, the wool starts with the animals: alpacas, mohair goats and angora rabbits. They live outdoors in the grass and in the straw of the barn. Their fleece is carded and spun by hand on the farm, at a wooden spinning wheel, then woven on an old loom or knitted into pieces that are made one at a time.
Nothing here is mass-produced. Each sweater, scarf and hat is the only one of its kind, and the colour is often just the colour the animal grew.
